“I believe in giving children the freedom of choice to make decisions and direct their own learning, fostering their independence and confidence. ”

I’ve been working in early learning since 2013, the same year I joined Community Kids Morley. My journey began as an assistant educator, and I’ve had the opportunity to grow into roles such as Room Leader and Assistant Centre Manager before becoming the Centre Manager.

I was drawn to early education because I wanted to be part of the crucial early years of children’s lives, where they develop a love for learning and build foundational skills. I particularly love working collaboratively with families and the community to provide the best possible care and education that helps children thrive. Through my experience, I’ve learned that children learn best when they feel secure, trusted, and respected in their environment. I believe in giving children the freedom of choice to make decisions and direct their own learning, fostering their independence and confidence. My approach is centered around creating a nurturing, engaging, and supportive environment where each child feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

At Community Kids Morley, we create programs that support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth through play, exploration, and guided learning experiences. These experiences provide a balanced approach that is often more structured and diverse than what might be possible in a home setting. Our kindergarten program focuses on school readiness, helping children transition smoothly into formal schooling by introducing them to classroom routines and group learning experiences.

Our team at Community Kids Morley is passionate about supporting and nurturing young children. Many of our educators are Diploma-qualified and have been with the centre for a long time. We are proud of our culturally diverse team, which allows us to support families and children from various backgrounds effectively. I believe in building strong, supportive relationships with families by approaching each one with respect and empathy, valuing their unique perspectives and cultural backgrounds. We maintain open, honest, and regular communication, and we encourage families to be actively involved in their child’s learning journey.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our Morley early education centre, so you could experience how we foster a community where every child can flourish.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Morley, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

See more I was hesitant to post this review, but I decided to do so because many of the reviews here appear outdated and, in my opinion, no longer reflect the centre’s current standards therefore are misleading. My son started attending in October 2023 when he was 18 months old and he left approximately two weeks ago after starting kindy. In the beginning, the centre was great. The educators were lovely, communication was good, and my son genuinely enjoyed attending. However, over the past 12 months the quality of the centre declined significantly and quickly, we became increasingly unhappy with a number of issues. There were several occasions where educators went against our wishes. The most significant example occurred while we were toilet training our son. Because he was having frequent accidents, they arranged a meeting with the manager and main educator of the kindy room to discuss how we could manage this together. During the meeting, one educator suggested putting him back into nappies or placing a nappy over his training underwear. I explained that we did not want him returned to nappies, as this would undermine the toilet training process. To address their hygiene concerns, I purchased leak-proof training underwear. Despite this, my son later began being sent home wearing a nappy underneath his training underwear. When I raised this concern, I felt the response I received was dismissive and largely consisted of excuses rather than accountability. There were also several other concerning incidents. On one occasion, my son was sent home with another child’s water bottle, and the straw was full of mould. This raised serious concerns about health and safety, whether water bottles were being properly checked or cleaned. Again, when I raised the issue, I did not feel it was taken seriously enough and I was just given excuses. On another occasion, my son was sent home with another child’s underwear in his bag that was soiled with faeces. This was extremely concerning and unhygienic. When I raised it with the centre, they were unable to explain how it had happened. There were also several times where my son came home with unexplained bruises. When I asked staff about these, they were unable to provide an explanation and suggested they may have occurred at home. However, the bruises were not present when he was dropped off in the morning, which made this response particularly concerning. Over the last year, many of the educators who had originally made the centre such a positive environment left with little to no notice. The high staff turnover was worrying and appeared to coincide with the decline in the overall quality of care. In speaking with other parents, I also learned that several had experienced similar — and in some cases more serious — concerns and had chosen to remove their children from the centre. If my son had not started kindy this year, we would have moved him to another daycare. While there are still a couple of wonderful educators there (particularly Gracie), unfortunately that alone is not enough to make up for the broader issues we experienced. Considering the high fees charged by this centre, the level of care and professionalism simply did not meet expectations and I don't know how they justify such a high daily rate.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Community Kids uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Community Kids is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
