Community Kids Cessnock

About Us

Welcome to Community Kids Cessnock!

ck_cessnock-18Community Kids Cessnock is a brand new purpose built centre located in the centre of town. Our centre welcomes families from 6:30am to 6:00pm and has large, natural outdoor play spaces that are supported by natural and inviting indoor rooms.

Children learn in many different ways and at different times, as a result we have ensured that our environments have reflected this, enabling children of all ages to interact and learn from each other in the one space. We provide children with indoor/outdoor play, this means that children have choice and can exercise a sense of agency to be able to play in an environment that suits their needs and interests. Our indoor environment is arranged to cater for children based upon developmental stages, creating a more productive learning environment.

We provide morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and breakfast for those early starters at the centre before 8:00am. For convenience of busy families, we provide nappies, wipes and bedding.

We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality education and care, with our Educators programming and planning to support and extend on your child’s interests and needs. Our Educators engage with the Early Years Learning Framework, which describes the principles, practices and outcomes that support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age. We treat each child as an individual, possessing their own set of strengths and interests.

We aim to develop each child not only for school, but to be a life long learner, acquiring dispositions for learning such as confidence, persistence, resilience, getting along and organisation. At Community Kids Cessnock we believe in empowering each child to have active participation in their learning and the day to day decisions at our centre. We also run a transition to school program in both preschool rooms.

Meet the Centre Manager – Tina Barbie

Hi, my name is Tina Barbie and I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services. I’ve been working in early education for 13 years. One of my favourite parts of working at our centre is meeting the children and developing relationships with children, families and staff.

I am passionate about early childhood education and care. The majority of brain development happens in the first 5 years, that is why what we do every day makes such a difference to the little people we care for.

“It takes a village to raise a child” – African Proverb. Many people influence a child’s learning and development.

All children have in built curiosity and potential, my job is to both nurture and help children develop by exploring the world in which they live. Through education, care and love and by supporting a child’s first teacher; their families, I can contribute to this development.

Come and have a look at our amazing centre. Meet our dedicated and professional staff and have a look at our beautiful play spaces both indoor and outdoor. We look forward to meeting you.

  • Kristy

“I have 2 kids that go… Full Time. They are learning so much and have a ball doing it. Great outdoor play space and great brand new facility with full air con for those hot days. They open long hours to accommodate my family who both my husband and I work full time. They supply a breakfast, morning tea, lunch and avo tea. They have fruit out all day so the kids can snack on that if they get hungry. My kids love it and are always asking if they can go to school. They have morning and afternoon family time so my 4Yr old and 2Yr old play together in the morning and avo, which makes it easy for drop off and pick up cos they are all in the one place.”
