Community Kids Empire Bay Early Education Centre

About Us

Welcome to Community Kids Empire Bay!

Our Empire Bay child care centre delivers an experienced team of early childhood educators, providing professional and compassionate care.

Empire Bay is a purpose built long day care centre, caring for children from Nursery through to Preschool.

Our rooms are well resourced and stimulating for children of all ages. With big, open spaces, the aim of our outdoors environemnts is to encourage exploration through nature and invogorating play-based learning. We have a vegetable garden and chickens which the children enjoy looking after and caring for. The educators also use this environment to teach the children about nature and sustainability.

Our educators take great pride in our service by providing exceptional care for each and every child. With a caring home-like environment, we want every child to feel safe and  secure whilst in our care. Our centre runs on an interest- based program, giving the children the opportunity to explore and develop in all areas whilst having fun.

Empire Bay prides itself in honesty, reliability, enthusiasm and genuinely caring for the educational needs of children and families within our community.

We welcome everyone seeking childcare to visit our centre at any time.

Centre Manager profile

Kylie Pruys

How long have you been working in childcare?

I have been working in the Early Childhood Sector for 20 years.

What is your favourite part of working at the centre?

My favourite part of working at the Centre is watching the relationships that the Educators, Families and Children have. It really feels as though we are one big family.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a Diploma in Children’s Services and a Diploma in Business Management.

What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“The first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 turn out”

What inspired you to become an educator?

As a shy 16 year old girl, I decided to go to a Pre-School for my year 10 work experience. I enjoyed this time so much that I requested an extra week and then began to volunteer in school holidays. Once I got to the age of 18 I was offered a paying job at the Service and have never looked back.

What is your philosophy about educating children?

I believe it is our duty to watch and develop an understanding of each child and their learning style, so we are able to give them the greatest chance at developing important life skills. Regardless of where a child comes from, where they live, their socioeconomic or cultural background or their capacity for learning, each child has the right to an education that is appropriate to their needs.

What makes your team/centre special?

I am most proud of the fact that I have passionate and dedicated staff members who make every child and family feel welcome and special every day.
