Hi, my name is Katie Gibbs and I am the Centre Manager at Community Kids Greenacres. I have worked in the early child education and care sector since 2006 and have found great joy, contentment and job satisfaction caring for children.
The early years of a child’s life are busy. I consider learning is happening all the time and is linked through all developmental areas. I aim to implement an educational program that reflects both individual and group needs and one that promotes each child’s interests, learning, development, culture, and individuality through play. Children are the future and need the very best when it comes to learning and interacting in a creative and fun environment. I believe learning in an early childhood environment is done most effectively through learning areas that can be visited, investigated, and explored again and again. I feel that it is important to instil confidence in young children to encourage curiosity, motivation, enthusiasm, and an interest to learn and grow as a person.
I believe that it is important that children are provided with a secure and loving environment when away from their families. I know that when we consistently and lovingly meet the needs of the young child in our care, secure attachments are made. Children who develop secure attachments to one or more adults are more likely to form confident social and emotional skills. They know they can depend on adults to respond to them, to meet their needs, and to comfort them. They feel important and start to develop a sense of ability and self-confidence. I value that all children have the right to feel and be safe. I am dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of all children accessing our Early Learning Service and the welfare of the children in my care will always be my highest priority.
I see the community that is involved within our Early Learning Service (educators, children and families) are like a big family. It is important that I integrate the individuality of each child’s family and home life into the Service. This not only creates comfort for the child but also a “home away from home”. It is imperative that all individual child’s needs are met, be it special needs, diet, or religious beliefs. Not only is it vital to bring the child’s family life to the Service, but to also keep the Service involved in the child’s family. I aim to run an Early Learning Service that has a commitment to providing excellent care and education and one that will continue to reflect upon its practices and beliefs to reflect the current needs of the community.
As a Centre Manager I aim to be forever passionate, caring, fair, patient, educated and fun. I will follow regulations, policies, and procedures to the best of my knowledge and ability at all times, if I am unsure I will constantly query and seek guidance and aim to further my awareness and skill. I have high expectations of myself and staff team and expect nothing less than 100% effort. I believe I should lead by example, provide guidance and growth by giving significant feedback, and to be accessible to everyone.
I look forward to meeting you and your child and invite you to come and visit our centre.

Reviews and Testimonials
See what some of our parents say about our centre:
“My 14 month old daughter started at Community Kids Greenacres 2 weeks ago and I we both love it. I really wish I had started her there earlier. We moved from another centre and could not be happier. The staff are amazing and so kind and caring. I love getting updates every day on what she has been up to, her sleep and what she has had to eat along with photos too. It has been so easy for us to fit in and I know that we will stay here until my daughter starts school. I totally recommend Community Kids Greenacres and have already referred a friend to start her son there too.”
“My 2.5 year old daughter has been going to Community Kids Greenacres since she was 10 months old. The team of staff are exceptional at what they do; my daughter is excited to go to childcare and is always learning, having fun and eating delicious healthy food. Communication is fantastic, any issues are resolved immediately. We receive daily updates and photos of our daughters sleep, eating, activities and learning experiences. The centre is always looking for ways to improve their service and the facilities and equipment are regularly upgraded. We are so happy with this centre that we have recommended to friends and family, who are just as happy as us since they have joined.”
“We are so happy with Community Kids Greenacres!! We left another childcare centre a couple of years ago because of the care that my children were receiving was not up to scratch. From the first time that I spoke with the Director at Community Kids, we were treated like family! All of the staff know each of my childrens’ names (regardless of whether they work in their rooms or not!), the kids are happy, the staff are always happy and willing to talk at any time about any concerns I may have. The centre is clean, and my boys love going there – in fact at times, its hard to get them to come home! Community Kids is a fantastic centre, and I would recommend other people sending their children there in a heartbeat!”
“My daughter has been going to Community Kids Greenacres since she was 11 months old…she is now about to start school! The staff are very friendly, know each child by name and are always willing to talk about my daughter’s progress and any concerns I have had. She always wants to go and sometimes I have a hard time convincing her to leave! The food is also amazing – a cooked lunch every day. I am also very impressed with the education program. There are structured learning outcomes each term and regular newsletters. I am so happy with this centre and would definitely recommend it to any parent.”
“We have been in and out of this centre over the last 5.5 years with all 3 of our kids attending and we have nothing but good comments and memories. From supporting us with toilet training to helping our kids learn and develop. The kids are always happy to go which we think is a great sign they are well looked after and have fun. The centre doesn’t seem too big either so you feel they know who you and the kids are which is a great thing as we still have 4 years to go. Thankyou.”
“A fantastic centre. Both of my boys have attended and I have no complaints. Community Kids Greenacres has a friendly atmosphere, caring staff and healthy food. My eldest who has since moved on to pre-school still talks fondly about his teachers and what he used to do there.”
