Kaye Ward

Centre Manager - Community Kids Caboolture

“I have a passion for working with children of all ages.”

My name is Wendy “Kaye “Ward, but I have been known as Kaye since I have been a baby.

My career in childcare began in 1995 and have a Diploma of Children’s services. I started doing casual work and then decided to study my Certificate 3 when I finished this I worked as a room leader from 2008 and completed my Diploma in 2010.  I have worked with G8 Education over the years and found my way back here in 2019. It’s good to be home!

I have a passion for working with children of all ages. I feel they are a parent’s most precious gift and that they entrust us to look after their children each day. I love to watch them learn and grow. It is a gift to be able to be able to see the world through their eyes.

Throughout my time in child care, I've learned each child is an individual and that they grow and learn at their own pace. By making sure children are loved for who they are and to take the time to get to know each child as an individual.

We know so many parents have very busy and hectic work and home lives and doing a daily work/home juggle. We can take the time here at the centre that sometimes parents do not have in their day to just sit and spend time to help their child learn and grow. The old proverb of ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ is very true.

My Child Protection statement is that I will ensure all children feel safe, secure and respected at all times. We ensure all team member are up to date with their Child protection training which is renewed annually. All staff continually complete professional development courses.

We have staff that have been in the childcare industry for many years, with some of the team being at the centre from the vary beginning. We have multicultural team members which include a wide variety of cultures. Even though we are a large centre all the team member knows all the children by name.

Our team is made up of 30 staff who range in age from 18 – 55, we have quite a few staff children in the centre.

When parents come in for a tour we ensure that they are made to feel welcome from the minute they come through our doors. We can show them how Xplor, our centre app works, assist in linking CCS and bank accounts up.  We also ensure parents don't leave without having our direct phone number so they can call us if they have any difficulties with the enrolment process

I build relationships with my parents by always being available to help with all their queries and concerns. Also always stopping to have a chat about themselves as well as their children.

I love to read stories and singing songs with children. I am always available to help feed the babies. Always available for cuddles with the kids. I can touch my tongue to my nose. I love to draw with the Kindergarten children but they always pick on me as I can only draw stick people.

I believe in unicorns, mermaids and fairies. There is magic in the world and you just have to look and you will find it. I have one daughter and 2 grandchildren who are 9 and 10 and lots of adopted staff children.
