Centre Manager - Community Kids Dubbo

"Supporting young children to grow into the amazing individuals they are meant to be."

I strongly believe that children learn best through experience, which is best provided when they are given the room and opportunity to make decisions and mistakes. It is then from these decisions and mistakes that children grow to become strong, confident and independent individuals with their own ambitions. Through support and guidance and NOT the idea ‘managing’ children, gives them all the security they need to achieve a higher sense of autonomy and agency.

I have been working in early education since 2011. During my time working within this industry, I have grown and learnt so much (and am still continuing to do so). My passion has always lived with the early years and supporting young children to grow into the amazing individuals they are meant to be. One aspect that I particularly love about working in this industry, is the pride, excitement and pure joy that I feel each and every day as I witness children learning and mastering new skills, develop new relationships and start to find where they fit into the world.

Throughout my 10 years working at this service I have learnt SO MUCH, starting out as a trainee educator studying my Certificate III back in 2011 and progressing all the way to a Centre Manager. I very quickly learnt that no child is the same and no one teaching style works across the board. This early realization pushed me to try and develop not only strong trusting relationships with children but genuine ones. As much as I get to know the children and their families, I allow them to get to know me as well and I truly believe that this is the most important part of creating those amazing connections and that assists me in selecting which teaching style best suits each child.

We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Many have been with the centre over 5 years. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We are such a close-knit team it feels like one big family.

The best part of my job is the team – they are so committed and positive about their role as educators.  The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.

Being a smaller service allows families over only a short period of time to get to know each and every educator within our service. I always stop and check in with families during drop off and pick up to not only check in on their child, but also themselves as they are a huge part of our little Community Kids Family as well.
