I began my career in early childhood education and care over 13 years ago and started working at Community Kids Old Coach Road early in 2020 as a trainee.  

I hold a Diploma in Child Care and have been working in the Centre Manager’s role for the last six years. 

I am a true believer in high-quality care and strive every day to ensure that high-quality care is given to our children and families. I have a lot of passion for the early education sector and every day I wake up and can’t wait to go to work. During my career in child care, I have seen many changes and coming to Community Kids has allowed me to have personal growth within the industry I love. I also like to work collaboratively with my staff mentoring and guiding them in the right direction to provide quality care for the children and our families.  

I believe that children learn and develop at their own pace. As educators working in the early years, we have such an important job to have foundations in place for children to have the opportunity to have a great head start. This is as simple as guiding children in the right direction and allowing them to grow through play-based learning.  

It has been acknowledged that there is a strong link between play and learning for young children, especially in the areas of problem-solving, language, literacy, social, physical, and emotional skills. Young children actively explore their environment and the world around them through learning-based play.  

All educators hold a relevant and approved child care qualification depending on the position they are currently employed in. Lead educators either hold a Diploma or Bachelor in early childhood. All assistant educators have or are studying to gain their Certificate III in Child Care, with some educators also studying for their diploma to improve their qualifications and knowledge.  

It is Centre policy that all educators have First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma training before employment commencement. We also attend refresher courses on CPR every 12 months and in First Aid, Anaphylaxis & Asthma every three years.  Educators are also required to have a current ‘Working with Children’ check before being employed. We also need staff to have child protection and fire training every year.  

Educators are regularly sent to in-service training throughout the year to keep up to date with changes within the industry and enhance their professional development.
