I began my career in early childhood education and care in July 2008 and started working at Community Kids Yandina 2 in 2008. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and a Diploma of Business.
My first experience with Community Kids was when my daughters attended. They have attended the centre since it opened and I was very pleased with the centre, how the educators interacted with my own children and how rewarding this was for them. This is when I decided to change my career from a veterinarian nurse and began in the early education sector. It was a fantastic career change and I still have my daughters attending the centre.
We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Many have been with the centre over five years, and some as long as 13 years. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We are such a close-knit team it feels like one big family. We have educators at the centre that attended the centre when they were younger.
The best part of my job is the team – they are so committed and positive about their role as educators. The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.
Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Community Kids Early Education Centres has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care.
We build good relationships with our families by creating bonds with families and catering for their needs which often shows the initial comfort they need. Staying open minded and communicating with them often for both positive and negative aspects creates an understanding. It’s important to take on methods of different types of communication to make each family feel welcomed.
