Centre Manager - Community Kids Lavington
"The thing that makes me continue to love my job is the way we are able to help these children grow and learn under our care and guidance."
I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2013 and started working at Community Kids Lavington in 2018. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services and have many years’ experience as a room leader and an educational leader, as well as an Assistant Centre Manager.
When I left school, I wanted to go into social work to help work with vulnerable families and children, during a placement at a childcare centre, I fell in love with the environment and the joy I got out of helping children during their most formative years of life. The thing that makes me continue to love my job is the way we are able to help these children grow and learn under our care and guidance.
Children learn through play in an ever adapting and changing learning environment, if we can continue to provide this to children, it gives them the steppingstones to go further in life and continue to meet their milestones and developmental needs.
Our caring educators go out of their way to make children feel loved, welcomed, and valued. This instils a sense of belonging and confidence in a child. In other words, the educator makes them feel involved and worthy. When this occurs, children are more likely to be engaged in learning and social activities. As children grow, this need for belonging continues. Children, no matter what their age, ethnic background, or where they live, want to feel engaged at school and early child care centres. They want to feel like they belong, and that sense of belonging is something we instil in children while in care.
Our team consists of dedicated educators who are of a multicultural background, most of our team are parents and understand how difficult the decision is for families to leave their precious little ones in the hands of a stranger, but rest assured that when leaving your child with our team they are in the safest hands. Our centre is a small knit community who continually support the needs of the child and family to work in unison to create the best learning environment possible for your child.
Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Community Kids Early Education Centres has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care.
We understand the needs of the families here at the centre, we work with families to create positive family relationships and partnerships that are built on communication, teamwork, and appreciation of each other. Children feel secure and loved when they are surrounded by strong and positive relationships. Relationships turn into partnerships when the people involved share a common goal, for example supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children. Partnerships start with positive relationships and involve everyone being equal and contributing in different ways , each person being valued and respected for what they think even if there are differences, listening and talking to each other, making an effort to understand and trust other people’s points-of-view and checking in with each other.
