Pavittar K Mander
Centre Manager - Community Kids Roxburgh Park
“Treating all children and young people with respect, regardless of race, colour, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinions, ethnic or social origin, culture, disability or other status.”
I began my early childhood education and care career in 2014 and started working at Community Kids Roxburgh Park in 2019.
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood and Education, Training and Assessment, and Masters in Business Administration.
Since starting my career in child care, I have never looked back. Every day, I look forward to walking into the child care centre to be greeted with amazing big smiles and warm hellos from the children. Working with children and helping the community is the greatest opportunity you get while working in this role. We learn and explore new things every day and every minute, especially when you have amazing team of educators by your side.
As an educator, I’ve learnt the best way to teach our young ones is to let them explore and find their own way of learning. This approach in my teaching style is to be in the present moment. Childhood is the time for being aware and mindful of what is happening at this very moment, not solely about preparing for the future.
I am passionate about helping children in their learning and life journey. I work to empower and inspire children around me through a supportive and caring environment. I try to make sure the learning process is fun for them so that their confidence comes out and shines itself. As educators, we need to encourage and respect children as capable learners.
We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Educators can talk in different languages like Arabic, Turkish, Bangla, Sindhi, Hindi and Punjabi.
Many have been with the centre over nine years. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We have an incredible team with happy faces and work like one big family.
We understand that starting at a new centre can be overwhelming. From the first inquiry, we make sure that we address all your questions one by one. With many of our team having children of their own, we have all been or will be, going through the process of child care and early learning. We are proud to offer support where possible. We can help our families enrol, apply for the Child Care Subsidy, or even tips to help with fussy eaters and toilet training.
Our team is here to help. We believe in maintaining respectful relationships based on open communication to encourage families engagement and build a strong sense of belonging.
The health and safety of the children within our service is the most important aspect of our role. All team members at Community Kids Roxburgh Park are required to read and understand the Child Protection Statement of Commitment during orientation and annually to ensure they are aware of and abide by the obligations set out. Reviewing The Child Protection Statement of Commitment also provides an opportunity to reflect on their own values, behaviours and drivers to ensure ongoing alignment with G8 Education.
