Community Kids Thornton
Spacious areas designed to inspire
As you open the door to our centre, you will be immersed in a world where children are inspired to explore and grow. Our adventure-filled playground includes sandpits, climbing fort, vegetable garden and other exciting play equipment for children to explore and to engage all the senses. Children are provided time and space for uninterrupted play as they explore the outdoor spaces to test their limits and develop strength, balance, and self-confidence.
Our indoor environments invite exploration with quality resources and learning experiences. Children marvel, create, and test out their ideas as they play with a range of materials in purposeful play spaces. Our team of experienced educators plan play-based learning experiences around children’s interests and learning goals. Literacy and numeracy concepts are embedded in play-based learning, as children engage as architects, storytellers, scientists, artists and designers.
Our dedicated studio space invites innovative ways of working with unique materials. Project work enables children to visit and work in the studio space over time with peers, educators, and specialists. Project-based learning promotes the integration of learning areas and skill sets as children problem-solve, think critically, and collaborate with others to design, create and evaluate their ideas.
Healthy meals freshly prepared in-house
There is no need to pack your child’s lunch or snacks as we provide healthy, freshly made meals created daily by our in-house cook catering for all dietary requirements. Shared mealtimes between children and educators strengthen relationships, with opportunities to share stories and experiences, and model healthy eating practices. Allow us to treat you to hot coffee and a snack to go each morning.
Community-based early learning
No two days are the same at Community Kids Thornton. Our educators and children explore our local community with regular excursions and walks, also visiting the Maitland show and art gallery yearly. We welcome special guests and community members to the centre including the library to the centre based on the children's interests. You will also receive daily photos, meal and nap times, as well as updates of your child's learning and development through our parent app - Xplor.
As members of our Community Kids community, we look forward to partnering with you to provide information, support, and high-quality education and care in your child’s formative years.
