Community Kids Glenella

We’re part of your village at Community Kids Glenella Child Care Early Education Centre.  Our early learning and long day care centre is ideally located on Schapers Road for families living or commuting through Mount Pleasant and Glenella in North Mackay. We are open from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.

Natural play areas designed to inspire

As soon as you enter our Glenella child care centre, you will experience a world where children are inspired to explore, learn and grow. Our spacious outdoor environments include covered verandas, water play areas, sandpits, cubby house, vegetable gardens, and home-grown fruit trees to engage all the senses. Children are provided time and space for uninterrupted play as they explore the outdoor spaces to test their limits and develop strength, balance, and self-confidence.

Our indoor environments invite exploration with quality resources and learning experiences. Children marvel, create, and test out their ideas as they play with a range of materials in purposeful play spaces. Our team of experienced educators plan play-based learning experiences around children’s interests and learning goals. Literacy and numeracy concepts are embedded in play-based learning, as children engage as architects, storytellers, scientists, artists and designers. You will also receive daily photos and updates of your child's learning and development through our parent app - Xplor.

Healthy meals prepared in-house

You won’t need to worry about packing lunch and snacks for your child. We provide healthy, freshly made meals created daily by our in-house cook, catering for all dietary requirements. Shared mealtimes between children and educators grow relationships, with opportunities to share stories and experiences, and model healthy eating practices.

Community-based early learning

Each day is a brand-new adventure at Community Kids Glenella. We regularly welcome special community guests to the centre based on the children’s interests. Such incursions include Active Squirts, Making Rainbows and Singing lessons along with the emergency services crews that often drop in. We also have the AUSLAN sign language program, run a music therapy and health and fitness sports program.

Throughout the year, educators and children venture out to on excursions to our local Glenella community visiting nearby parks and nature reserves. Neighbourhood connections support a sense of community and belonging for children and provide opportunities to develop social and observational skills with different people, places, and environments.

Sustainability program

Our child care and early education centre has a major focus on sustainability and community and cultural involvement. The centre has a Sustainability Officer who supports the educators and takes pride in the centres outdoor environment which includes fruit trees, vegetable and herb gardens, native plants, natural elements, worm farm, compost bird feeders and the very well-loved pets, our chickens, our bird, our guinea pig and a selection of underwater species. All of which the children are actively involved in caring for and feeding, which teaches them a sense of responsibility and connection to the world.

As members of our Community Kids community, we look forward to partnering with you to provide information, support, and high-quality education and care in your child’s formative years.
