Centre Manager - Community Kids Leumeah
"The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice."
My career in early childhood education started in 1995. I started as the Centre Manager at Community Kids Leumeah in January 2023. I completed the Associate Diploma in Social Science (Child Studies) in 1997 and have also completed a Certificate III in Training and Assessment in 2023. I began working in a long day care centre in 1995 whilst I studied the diploma. Since then, I have worked my way up from Educator Assistant to Room Leader and then progressed to Centre Director and have also worked as a Family Day Care educator and coordinator and now am the Centre Manager.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to look after children. I feel I have a natural flair and passion with children and commit to ensuring each child is given the respect and care they deserve. I love watching children explore, learn, and grow and enjoy being a part of this experience. I have learnt that children are capable, caring and thrive in an environment that supports their learning journey. I like to approach children with care and respect and give them opportunities to experience many opportunities to practice, learn and grow. I believe that guiding children positively impacts the way they will interact with others.
I like to role model positive interactions with others so that the children can see how being positive and kind can help you achieve greatness. I believe that children can achieve many skills and just need to be given the time and support to guide them toward success.
I like to inform families that children need to be exposed to many different environments to allow them the opportunity to learn. Children need to be around other children to be able to practice social skills, communication and conversations, problem solving, building resilience and turn taking. All skills that we use throughout our entire life. I believe a mixture of home life with their family and attending early education and care is a recipe for success.
My team are passionate about outcomes for children. They genuinely care for the children and enjoy every moment with the children. My team are committed and caring and have lovely relationships with both children and families of our service. I like to be open, honest, and transparent with families. My door is always open, and I am happy guide families through their experience at our service.
