Kelly Herden

Centre Manager - Community Kids Narrabri

“I am so proud of the community connections that we have built here at the centre and the sense of family we have with our families.”

I began my early childhood education and care career in the early 2000s first as a Room Leader and then as the Centre Manager for Community Kids Narrabri

I have my Diploma of Community Services (Children Services) and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

I have always had a love for children growing up. I did a lot of babysitting, and I was still the person entertaining the children at any get together we went to. I always believed deep down that I would work with children one day.

All childcare centres, including our centre, use the foundation of play-based learning to guide our experiences every day. With access to a range of age-appropriate learning resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we set children up to thrive in an environment that is dedicated to learning.

Children develop their curiosity, problem-solving, confidence and resilience at our centre, and we carefully plan play-based learning experiences around their interests and learning goals. Over time, you will see your child develop abilities such as language, motor movement, memory, concentration and social relationships all by partaking in these experiences - it's a truly incredible journey to witness!

My team all have a very friendly and warm approach to the children in our care. The easy-going relationships that we build with our families reflect the small rural community that we live in. We are very community-minded and expose the children in our care to our local community through regular excursion and outings. We spend the time meeting our community and being present in it. We also support our community through fundraisers that are meaningful to the families in our care.

I am so proud of the community connections that we have built here at the centre and the sense of family we have with our families. It is so beautiful to see the relationships that our families have been able to build with the Educators over the years, making me very happy and fulfilled to see.

We understand that starting at a new centre can be overwhelming and that is why from the first inquiry, we make sure that we address all your questions one by one. We walk families through all the forms and administration that need to be done. This includes enrolment forms, Child Care Subsidy (CCS), explaining subsidies, government caps, centre schedules, our centre menu and more.
