  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
“By being nurturing, supportive and giving children the time they need to learn at their own pace, I help them feel confident and ready to explore new experiences.”

I have been working in early childhood education since 2008 and joined Community Kids Berwick in 2021. I began my career as an Assistant Educator and, over the past 18 years, have worked my way through the industry into leadership, which has given me a strong understanding of all areas of centre life.

My approach is grounded in creating a strong sense of belonging. By being nurturing, supportive and giving children the time they need to learn at their own pace, I help them feel confident and ready to explore new experiences. I believe every child deserves personalised learning, and I lead with patience, calmness, and care across all areas of the centre.

I am incredibly proud of the passionate and dedicated team at Community Kids Berwick. Our educators are longstanding, kind, and supportive, and they work closely together to support children, families, and one another. We are very fortunate to have such a nurturing and committed team.

Supporting families is at the heart of what we do. This begins from the very first tour, where we provide information to help families start their journey with confidence. We continue building strong relationships through follow-up conversations, orientations, stay and play sessions, and ongoing communication. By welcoming families at every stage and maintaining open, honest connections, we work together to create positive experiences and bright futures for every child.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Berwick, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Community Engagement

We often have visits from local community services in Berwick to help familiarise the children with their local community, and we go out on adventures to teach the children about their local environment.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

From the very first visit, we felt welcomed and reassured. The staff are incredibly warm, professional, and truly passionate about what they do. You can see how much they care for each child, creating a nurturing and supportive environment that feels just like a second home. Our child has blossomed (no pun intended!) since starting here—becoming more confident, social, and curious every day. The daily activities are thoughtful and fun, promoting learning through play in the best way. The center is always clean, organized, and full of positive energy. It’s evident that our child is loved dearly by not only the other kids, but the staff as well, Thankyou guys for everything you do for our little girl Naomi

Beforehand, I had toured about 5 other centres, some which had some major red flags, and others which just didn’t feel right. From the moment I walked in the door at CK I knew that’s where I wanted to send my daughter, and I’m so happy the stars aligned and they had a space for her! All of the educators she has had across 3 age rooms have been beyond fantastic. My daughter loves each and every one of them, and I can tell they genuinely love and care for her too! If we arrive early, she will go into the younger room, and she will literally run up to the educators that she had last year and give them a big cuddle! She learns so so much at CK, and not just academically (although they are absolutely fostering her love of learning!!). From using a spoon when she was a baby, to putting her shoes and socks on and off, they even toilet trained her with little effort needed on my part! We get daily photo updates of what they’re doing in the app, sometimes multiple photo updates. Regular personal updates about what she has been doing or learning, and focused updates on what they plan to work on next to continually develop and challenge her, in whichever way she leads. Centre Managers Hayley and Jess – I can’t say enough fantastic things about these two lovely ladies!!! From the original tour that Hayley gave me, we were welcomed and made to feel like they are part of our family. The communication is fantastic, and the effort they go to for their families and the centre is above and beyond. Since we started there, I’ve had two friends that have enrolled their kids with CK, one who’s son had a tough time adjusting, but he had formed such strong bonds with the educators and he is such a happy little boy at daycare now. We will be continuing with CK for 3yo and 4yo kindergarten from next year. I toured a local kinder recently and was so underwhelmed. My daughter would be so bored there compared to what I know she will be offered at CK! Thought Google might have had a limit on how much nice things I had to say but apparently not! If you’ve made it this far, definitely contact Hayley and Jess to book a tour, you won’t be disappointed!

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Community Kids uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Community Kids is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
