“While in our care, children learn many things, such as building relationships and communication skills, discussing feelings and appropriate actions, respecting others, and understanding and contributing to our community.”

I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2000 and started working at Community Kids Springvale South the same year. Having been in our wonderful centre for over 20 years, I am proud to say that our centre has no staff turnover. We have great relationships with each other, all sharing the common goal of giving children the best opportunities to learn and grow. I continually learn and enjoy mentoring the team to make our service known as one of the best within the community.

While in our care, children learn many things, such as building relationships and communication skills, discussing feelings and appropriate actions, respecting others, and understanding and contributing to our community. It is important for children to socialise and form relationships with peers and adults outside their family circle. Our multicultural team is dedicated and passionate about their work. We feel very fortunate to work with children and strive to create an environment where they feel comfortable and can express their feelings at all times.

We have built a strong reputation by fostering strong relationships with families. Throughout the year, we host morning teas to give families the opportunity to meet each other. We also provide snacks in the mornings and special treats in the afternoons. When children participate in cooking experiences during the day, we share these with families in the afternoon. I help families and children through orientation by being flexible and listening to their needs. We have staff who can help translate if families prefer to speak in their native languages.

I look forward to welcoming you to Community Kids Springvale South early learning centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Springvale South, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children, educators, and our cook collaborate to grow produce from our vegetable gardens in both yards. Children learn about environmental care through recycling, yard maintenance, and using recycled materials for arts and crafts. Families are encouraged to contribute items and support initiatives like donating clothes and toys to the Salvation Army.

Community engagement

We offer enriching incursions and excursions tailored to children’s interests, including sports, science, yoga, music, and movement. Our children regularly visit Spring Parks Primary School and local parks, with strong involvement from Spring Rise Primary School’s foundation teacher. Families are welcome to participate in our programs, such as reading stories or leading cooking experiences.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

She started in the babies room and is now in the toddler room. What we love about the centre: – The centre director and many of the educators have been there for a very long time and it shows stability. – The educators display a warm and caring nature with our little one. It's a vibe. – They are keen to understand your schedule and routine at home so they can try and replicate it at the centre (eg, our little one has started going to the toilet and the educators have been great at making sure they keep the consistency going but also respect our child's wishes) – Nutritious food prepared in-house. – The centre director or someone else in her absence always answers the phone and responds to emails promptly. – If you have any concerns, they act on it quickly. – They use Xplore and send updates of your child through the day – Shoutout to Mai who went the extra mile to fix and sew our little girl's special bunny that she is so attached to! Looks as good as new! At this point, we are very happy with everything. Thank you to the dedication showed everyday.

See more I have had an incredible experience with Community Kids Springvale South My daughter has been attending this childcare centre since she was 6months old. As a first time mum it was daunting leaving her when I went back to work but I had nothing to worry about The staff here are amazing. They are familiar, friendly, caring & welcoming and have received excellent training in educating children. They have all the kids best interests at heart. There is no turnover of staff. My daughter has had the same educators since she started. They are familiar to her as she has gotten to know them over time and feels comfortable with them. They are all exceptional at what they do. The management is equally great, Christine has ran the centre for close to 25 years and the centre’s success is a testament to the hard work that she and the staff have put in over time. Vania as deputy manager is also extremely helpful and friendly and always available if you have any questions. What I love about the centre is that even the management are actively involved in caring for the children. Each day my daughter goes in, she is greeted by staff that are smiling and happy at their work and happy to see her She is very well looked after and she has developed so many new skills in the 5 short months that she has been there I would recommend Community Kids to anyone in the area that is looking for a safe, friendly, caring and educational centre to send their kids to.

Like all other kids we went shopping for day cares for our kids (my son and my niece). We shortlisted a couple based on many factors – (space for kids, programs, interaction with the teachers, food preferences, day care policies, etc etc). Others that made to the list included a newly opened day care with shiny furniture, a day care with homely feel and a day care with our community. We are glad, we chose Community kids over others. Why we like it so much: 1. My kiddo (now 3 years) loves most of the teachers in school. 2. Community kids find innovative ways to keep him engaged like to making space rocket using water bottle, baking cookies, farm animals visit, baking banana bread, yoga sessions, story book time, gardening, road sense and lots more. 3. Therez not even a single week when my kiddo hasnt dont a unique activity and all this in toddlers room. 4. They pay special attention to the food preferences. They have special vegetarian dishes for vegetarians. Also, they have strict policy to not include food that may cause allergy. 5. Nappies are provided. 6. You can pickup children upto 6pm. 7. Best thing -sensible management – we requested once to ask parents to not distribute the lollies bag on their childrens bday as its too sweet and the day care oblidged and requested parents in most polite way we could imagine. What we found was not as good during shopping: Babies room is little small as compared to others we shortlisted, but my kiddo never complained so all good.

Community Kids Springvale South is the first daycare I’ve felt 100% comfortable leaving my daughter in. She settled in so well from the beginning. All staff and team members are kind and friendly. The only daycare I would recommend to all families!

See more I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care and education my daughter has received at Springvale South Community Kids. From the moment I enrolled her, it was evident that it's a nurturing environment where every child's development is passionately embraced. The educators are not only highly skilled professionals but also compassionate individuals who truly understand the needs of young children. They create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made my daughter (and me) feel safe and loved from day one. Communication with the staff has been outstanding. I always feel informed about my daughter's day, from her activities to her meals and naps. It's reassuring to know that she is in such capable hands. Beyond the educational aspect, the love and care shown by the staff are truly heartwarming. They celebrate every milestone and comfort every "tear". It's evident that they have formed a bond with my daughter, which goes beyond simply looking after her. I wholeheartedly recommend Community Kids Springvale South to any parent looking for a place where their child can thrive, learn, and be loved. Thank you to the entire team for making a positive difference in mine and my daughter's life. You've set a standard of care that is truly exemplary and have become family!! Kara 🙂

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Community Kids uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Community Kids is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
