  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
“When children feel safe, comfortable, and valued, they are more confident to explore and learn.”

I began working in early childhood education in 2016 and joined the centre in 2025. I’ve always loved being around children, which inspired me to pursue this career. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate how meaningful and fulfilling this work is, especially being part of children’s early learning and development.

Through my experience, I have learned that every child is unique and learns in their own way. I also understand how important relationships are. When children feel safe, comfortable, and valued, they are more confident to explore and learn. I am passionate about guiding children through their learning and life journey by creating supportive environments where they can learn through play, everyday experiences, and their own interests. I focus on helping children build confidence, independence, and a sense of happiness as they grow.

When speaking with families, I explain that while children learn a lot at home, early childhood education and care provides additional opportunities to support their development. In a centre environment, children build social skills such as sharing, communication, and cooperation with peers. Our programs are intentionally planned around children’s interests, helping them develop important skills in areas like language, problem-solving, and independence.

I am very fortunate to be part of a dedicated and passionate team. As a large service caring for many families, every educator plays an important role in supporting our community. What stands out most is the commitment our team has to both children and families.

Building strong relationships with families is very important to me. I support families through open and honest communication, including daily conversations and an open-door approach. By offering opportunities for meetings, sharing updates, and creating a sense of community through events, I aim to ensure families feel valued, included, and connected.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Austral, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Community engagement

We often have visits from local community services in Austral to help familiarise the children with their local community, and we go out on adventures in our local area to teach the children about their local environment.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

He couldn’t count confidently, write his name, or even draw a clear picture. Within just one year, he has absolutely flourished! His confidence has grown, he can write his name, count, draw beautifully, and is more than ready for big school thanks to the incredible guidance and support he’s received. The teachers put in genuine effort with every child and truly care about preparing them for the next stage. Despite having limited space in some areas, they make the absolute most of it and always create fun, engaging learning environments. Their events, activities and special days are always so thoughtfully organised and full of excitement for the kids and families. We are so grateful for what this preschool has done for our son. They have supported him, encouraged him, and helped shape him into a confident little learner ready for school life. I highly recommend this preschool to any family considering it!

See more A Truly Exceptional Centre — Caring, Professional, and Committed to Every Child Our family has been part of this centre community for more than three years, and our experience has been nothing short of outstanding. The educators are consistently thoughtful, accommodating, and friendly — not only with parents, but with every child who walks through the door. The genuine care they show is visible in the way they teach, nurture, comfort, read to, feed, and love the children. My daughter has absolutely thrived here! One thing that has always stood out to me is the professionalism and communication of the team. Whether it’s daily routines, programming, health updates, or upcoming events, we have always been given clear information well in advance. Even when unexpected operational or regulatory constraints arise — as they do in any centre — I’ve found staff to be transparent, organised, and respectful in how they handle adjustments. On what was a proud day for us, our daughter recently graduated along with nearly 60 other children — which in itself is a testament to how well-regarded and trusted this centre is. Because of the unusually large cohort and the need to comply with safety and space regulations, the centre communicated multiple times that attendance would need to be limited to two family members. This was emailed and also mentioned to us verbally well in advance so that we had enough time to plan for the evening. It was an extremely hot day, and the indoor space — even with the air-conditioning working hard — understandably reached capacity with children, educators, and more than 120 adults in attendance. The outdoor play areas, while wonderful for their intended purpose (play equipment, sandpits, cubbies, and uneven surfaces), simply wouldn’t have safely accommodated a formal event in those conditions. From what I saw, the poor staff were doing their absolute best under these challenging circumstances to prioritise the children’s safety and comfort, and to ensure that everyone could still enjoy the ceremony. Managing crowd limits in a hot, busy room is no easy task, yet the team remained patient, calm, and respectful throughout. And they pulled off an AWESOME evening!! Despite the challenges, the graduation evening was a great success!! The children sang and performed, proudly wore their adorable graduation gowns, and each one received their certificate with an official handshake from the centre management. It was incredibly cute to watch, and remarkable how warmly every child responded to the staff. Afterwards, we all (families, staff, and kids), enjoyed snacks and cakes together outside – thankfully it had cooled a bit by then! Parents were applauding, chatting, and smiling, kids were running and playing— it was a genuinely beautiful way to send off our children to school, and for my daughter it was a truly significant and memorable moment. In all my interactions with the centre — from daily drop-off conversations to parent evenings to this final graduation — I have always felt heard and respected, confident in the team’s decision-making, and grateful for the loving, stable environment they create. It speaks volumes that several families I know, including my own sister and brother-in-law, travel well outside their local area just to bring their child here. That’s how trusted this centre is. We have absolutely no regrets choosing this centre for our daughter. Her early years have been enriched by a team who poured time, skill, and genuine affection into her growth. She leaves confident, happy, and ready for school — and we credit so much of that to the wonderful people here. I highly recommend this centre to any family looking for a place where children are truly known, cared for, and celebrated. To Natalie and the amazing team – Thank You – sincerely… Your untiring efforts to create a such a welcoming, safe and warm place for our most precious children, and your input into shaping our daughter's early foundational years is so very greatly cherished. Thank you.

But we had the most horrible experience on the graduation day. Initially the graduation was Friday and we had baby sitter organised but they changed it to Thursday therefore we could not organise the baby sitter even though we tried. On the graduation day, parents were turned away because the invitation was for “two people only” not including graduates. We were four people, me, wife, son that was graduating and his seven year old brother. So either me or my son could go in or my wife and son or me and my wife hahaha. I mean 7 year old going in the room would make no difference. Understandable if it was an adult. The welcoming of parents was only there to filter the extra people and turned them away. I mean come on !!! One father was so angry as he had to leave some sort of job to be there meaning no income for family. He was yelling “I lost money to come here.” I was asked to swap and take turns with my wife to watch the graduation ceremony. Only a person with zero IQ would say that and organise the ceremony this way. What is the point of swapping?? One of us would have to miss the ceremony, which I did. I could not watch the performance they did. The reason they gave me was lack of space inside the room. They have wonderful two backyards where family of four of five would easily fit with no problem. Anyway they ruined the whole ceremony for me. My son was so excited from the night before and he wanted me to be there. It was so disappointing. I asked to see the centre manager to talk to. I was told she is giving speech. Well done for ruining such a wonderful moment.

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Community Kids uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Community Kids is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
